Welcome
Welcome to the 6B5 Blog. Please have a closer look at some of the Reggio inspired projects we have been working on over the year.
Term 3 - Whodunnit
The class arrived at school to find a staged crime scene. Someone had broken into Room 20 and stolen some money. Could the class use their new forensic skills to solve the crime?
Term 3 - Forensics
We began our exploration of forensic science by honing our observation skills and analysing witness statements. We then took a closer look at three areas of forensic science:
Reading - Song Lyrics
At the start
of this term we studied song lyrics for reading, which sounds like fun. Unfortunately Mr Shalfoon forced us to study
old people’s music!
Where do the
Children Play?
Cat Stevens
We discussed this song and thought that Cat Stevens is telling
us that progress and technology are great, but we must remember that people
matter too.
He aha te
mea nui o te ao?
He tangata!
He tangata! He tangata!
What is the most important
thing in the world?
It is people! It is people! It is people!
We made connections with our study of The Giving Tree and The
Story of Stuff. If we keep consuming
natural resources at our current rate we are going to run out of planet. If every person on earth had the lifestyle of
the average American we would need the natural resources of three planets.
When we all have the ‘stuff’ we want and we have consumed all
the planet’s resources
Where will
the Children Play?
Blowin’ in
the Wind
Bob Dylan
Before we looked at this song we discussed the period in which
it was written, the 60’s, and the social changes occurring at that time.
After a class discussion we thought Bob Dylan was telling us
that if we want to rid the
world of injustice then we
have to something about it.
Bad things happen when good men do nothing.
(All that is necessary for evil to succeed is for good
men to do nothing. Edmund Burke)
The answer is not
difficult, it is just there
Blowin’ in
the Wind.
